Dobette

Dobette is a card game played with a standard 52-card deck. The objective of the game is to be the first player to score a predetermined number of points, typically 100 or more. Players are dealt a hand of cards, and the remaining cards form a draw pile. The game involves melding sets of cards and taking tricks.

The game begins with a dealer distributing cards to each player. In most variations, players aim to form melds, which are sets of three or more cards of the same rank or sequences of three or more cards in the same suit. Once a player believes they can form melds with the cards in their hand and potentially add to existing melds on the table, they can "lay down" their melds.

After laying down melds, players may also attempt to take tricks. A trick consists of each player playing one card. The highest card played in a trick, usually trumped by a designated suit, wins the trick. Points are awarded for melds laid down and for tricks taken. Specific point values are assigned to different card combinations and tricks. The game continues with players drawing new cards, melding, and taking tricks until one player reaches the target score. Variations exist in scoring, dealing, and the specific rules for melding and trick-taking.
