Diurnaalne

Diurnaalne is an Estonian term meaning diurnal or relating to the day. The word denotes phenomena or activities that occur during the daytime or that follow a daily cycle. It is formed from the Latin diurnalis and is used in scientific and everyday language to convey the sense of daytime or daily rhythmic patterns.

In science, diurnaalne is applied across disciplines. In biology, diurnal describes animals and plants that are active during daylight hours, contrasting with nocturnal species. In astronomy, the term relates to the apparent daily motion of celestial bodies caused by Earth's rotation and to concepts such as the diurnal circle, which traces a star’s path across the sky over a sidereal day. In meteorology and climatology, diurnal variation refers to changes that follow a 24-hour cycle, such as the diurnal temperature range, which tends to be higher during the day and lower at night.
