Diszkontált

Diszkontált is a Hungarian term that translates to "discounted" in English. It is commonly used in financial and economic contexts to refer to the value of future cash flows discounted back to their present value. This concept is fundamental in investment analysis and valuation.

When an asset or investment is expected to generate returns over time, the value of those future returns is less than their nominal amount due to the time value of money. This means that a dollar received today is worth more than a dollar received in the future. Diszkontált analysis uses a discount rate, which reflects the riskiness of the investment and the opportunity cost of capital, to calculate the present worth of these future cash flows.

The formula for calculating the present value (PV) of a future cash flow (CF) received n periods in the future, with a discount rate (r), is PV = CF / (1 + r)^n. For a series of cash flows, the present values of each individual cash flow are summed up.

The term diszkontált can also be used more broadly to describe any situation where a price or value has been reduced from its original or perceived worth. For example, a product sold at a diszkontált price is being offered at a lower price than its usual or suggested retail price. This could be due to a sale, clearance, or other promotional activities. In essence, it signifies a reduction in value or price for various economic reasons.
