It is not a standard term in established literature, and its precise meaning can vary depending on the field or narrative.

One common interpretation views disparasvelocity as velocity dispersion—the statistical spread of velocities among particles in a defined region. If a set of N velocity vectors is given as v_i, the mean velocity is v̄ = (1/N) sum_i v_i, and the dispersion can be defined as σ_v = sqrt( (1/N) sum_i |v_i - v̄|^2 ). For scalar speeds s_i = |v_i|, a related measure is σ_s = sqrt( (1/N) sum_i (s_i - s̄)^2 ), where s̄ is the mean speed. This interpretation emphasizes how widely particle speeds differ from the average.
