Diaamplitudi

Diaamplitudi is a theoretical metric used to quantify how much the amplitude of a signal varies within a given domain. It is not a standard term in established references but appears in theoretical discussions of signal variability and in speculative or interdisciplinary contexts as a way to capture dynamic richness in waveforms.

Definition and variants. In time domain, diaamplitudi D over an interval [t1, t2] can be defined as D = sqrt( (1/(t2 - t1)) ∫_{t1}^{t2} (A(t) - μA)^2 dt ), where μA = (1/(t2 - t1)) ∫_{t1}^{t2} A(t) dt is the mean amplitude. A common alternative is D' = (max A - min A)/μA, expressing the relative range of amplitude. The exact formulation depends on the chosen amplitude function A(t) and the intended interpretation.

Implementation notes. A(t) may be the envelope of the analytic signal obtained via the Hilbert transform, or simply the instantaneous amplitude |x(t)| for real-valued signals.
