Dhalai

Dhalai is a district in the state of Tripura, India. It is named after the Dhalai River, which flows through parts of the district. The administrative headquarters is Ambassa Town.

Dhalai lies in the central-northern part of Tripura, comprising hills, river valleys, and forested areas. The climate is subtropical with a pronounced monsoon season bringing most rainfall. The district forms part of Tripura's biodiversity corridor and hosts a variety of flora and fauna.

The district is divided into administrative sub-divisions and blocks under the state government. The population includes indigenous Tripuri communities as well as Bengali-speaking groups, with Kokborok and Bengali widely spoken.

Economy is largely agricultural, with rice and vegetables among the main crops; forestry and small-scale trade also contribute. Road transport provides the main link to the rest of the state, while rail and air access come via larger nearby towns in Tripura.

Educational institutions include government and private schools and colleges. Cultural life reflects the mix of indigenous and non-indigenous communities, with traditional music, dance, and festivals.
