DevEUI

DevEUI stands for Device Extended Unique Identifier. It is a globally unique 64-bit identifier assigned to an end-device, such as a sensor or actuator, for use in LoRaWAN networks. The DevEUI is part of the device's identity and is crucial for network registration and communication. It is typically pre-programmed into the device by the manufacturer or a network operator during the manufacturing or provisioning process.

The DevEUI is designed to be unique across all LoRaWAN devices worldwide, preventing conflicts and ensuring that each device can be reliably identified by the LoRaWAN network server. It is used in conjunction with other identifiers like DevAddr (Device Address) and AppEUI (Application Extended Unique Identifier) to manage and authenticate devices within the LoRaWAN ecosystem. The DevEUI is not intended to be changed by the end-user. Its primary function is to serve as a persistent identifier throughout the device's lifecycle. The generation and assignment of DevEUIs are managed by the LoRa Alliance.
