Detting

Detting is a village and civil parish in the county of Buckinghamshire, England. It is located in the Aylesbury Vale district, approximately two miles south-east of Aylesbury. The village is situated on the River Thame.

The earliest recorded mention of Detting appears in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it is listed as "Dedinges." The name is believed to be of Old English origin, possibly meaning "the people of Deotta." Historically, Detting was a rural agricultural community.

The parish church, dedicated to St. Mary the Virgin, has a history dating back to the medieval period, although much of the current structure was rebuilt in the 19th century. The village retains a traditional rural character with a mix of older and more modern housing.

Detting is primarily a residential village. Its proximity to Aylesbury means many residents commute to the larger town for work and services.
