Desubstàncies

Desubstàncies (plural of desubstancia) are substances that, by their properties or mode of action, impede or eliminate the active effect of a substance, usually another drug. This may occur through chemical interference, displacement from binding sites, or by promoting the metabolism of the affected substance.

These substances can function in various ways. Some may directly compete with the target molecule of the substance they counteract, thereby blocking its action. Others may induce enzymes that speed up the metabolism of the opposed substance, making it less effective.
