Demonstrerande

Demonstrerande is the present participle of the Swedish verb demonstrera, meaning to demonstrate or to show. It is formed by adding the suffix -ande to the verb stem demonstrer-, and it functions primarily as a verbal adjective (participial adjective). As such, demonstrerande can describe ongoing action or modify nouns attributively, and it may appear predicatively after a linking verb, though this is less common.

Usage and sense: The primary sense is that of something that demonstrates or serves to illustrate an idea or method. In academic and technical Swedish, the phrase ett demonstrerande exempel is standard for "an example that demonstrates [a point]."
