Delaram

Delaram is a town in southwestern Afghanistan, located in Nimruz Province near the border with Iran. It serves as the administrative center of Chahar Burjak District. The town lies along the Delaram–Zaranj Highway, a major transport artery linking Afghanistan with Iran.

The Delaram–Zaranj Highway connects Delaram to Zaranj near the border, forming part of Afghanistan's broader trade corridor to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas and the Persian Gulf. Constructed in the 2000s, the road has expanded cross-border commerce and increased mobility for residents and traders. As a result, Delaram has developed as a local commercial hub, with markets and services that cater to both residents and cross-border traffic.

The economy of Delaram is based on cross-border trade, transit services, and agriculture in the surrounding arid landscape. The town's population is ethnically diverse, reflecting Nimruz Province's mix of communities, including Baloch and Pashtun groups among others. The climate is hot and arid, with limited rainfall.

Security and administration: The area has experienced security challenges associated with Afghanistan's broader conflict, and security forces have maintained a presence to protect trade routes and residents.
