Dedeler
Dedeler, also known as dedolites, are a group of minerals that are characterized by their ability to undergo a reversible change in color when exposed to light. This phenomenon is due to the presence of certain ions, such as manganese or iron, which can switch between different oxidation states. Dedeler are typically found in sedimentary rocks and are often associated with other minerals such as calcite and quartz. They are named after the French mineralogist Pierre Dedel, who first described their unique properties in the 19th century. Dedeler are of interest to both mineralogists and gemologists due to their aesthetic appeal and the scientific principles behind their color change. However, their rarity and the difficulty in identifying them make them a subject of ongoing study and research.
