Dalvikbased refers to software or devices that utilize the Dalvik virtual machine. Dalvik was the original virtual machine developed by Google for the Android operating system. It was designed to be highly optimized for mobile devices, focusing on low memory usage and efficient execution of Java bytecode. Before Android Nougat, Dalvik was the primary runtime environment for Android applications. Its architecture allowed for Just-In-Time (JIT) compilation, improving application performance. Many older Android devices and applications are therefore considered Dalvikbased.
