Dabsorció

Dabsorció is a term that may appear in Catalan texts as a nonstandard or typographical variant of absorció (absorption) or desabsorció/desorció (desorption). It is not listed as a separate technical concept in major dictionaries, and its meaning tends to depend on context. In formal writing, the standard forms absorció, adsorció and desorció are preferred to avoid ambiguity.

In scientific usage, absorption is the uptake of energy or substances by a material. Adsorció (adsorption) refers to the adhesion of molecules to a surface, while absorption (absorption) generally implies penetration into the interior of a material. For the release of substances formerly absorbed or adsorbed, terms such as desorció or desabsorció are used, depending on the language variant and disciplinary convention. The potential overlap or confusion between these terms can lead to ambiguities when the nonstandard form dabsorció appears.

Applications of the underlying concepts span multiple fields. In environmental science, adsorption onto activated carbon is used to remove pollutants from water; in pharmacology, absorption describes how drugs pass from the gut into the bloodstream; in spectroscopy, absorption spectra reveal material properties. Desorption plays a key role in soil remediation and in analytical chemistry during sample preparation.
