DNSreplikációt refers to the process of copying and synchronizing DNS (Domain Name System) zone data between multiple DNS servers. This is crucial for ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of DNS resolution services. When a DNS zone is hosted on multiple servers, changes made to the zone data on one server need to be propagated to all other servers designated to hold that zone's information.

There are primary and secondary DNS servers. The primary server holds the master copy of the zone file and is where all administrative changes are made. When a change occurs, the primary server notifies its secondary servers. Secondary servers then initiate a zone transfer, requesting the updated zone file from the primary server. This process is known as DNS replication.

This replication ensures that if the primary DNS server becomes unavailable, secondary servers can continue to respond to DNS queries, preventing service disruptions. It also helps distribute the load of DNS queries across multiple servers, improving response times and overall performance. Different methods exist for zone transfers, including full zone transfers (AXFR) and incremental zone transfers (IXFR), which transfer only the changes since the last transfer. Proper DNS replication is a cornerstone of robust and resilient network infrastructure.
