DNAhelixvorm
DNAhelixvorm is a term used to describe the structural configuration of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), the molecule that carries genetic information in all living organisms. The DNA molecule is composed of two strands that are twisted around each other to form a double helix. Each strand is a long polymer of nucleotides, which are the building blocks of DNA. The nucleotides consist of a sugar molecule (deoxyribose), a phosphate group, and one of four nitrogenous bases: adenine (A), thymine (T), cytosine (C), or guanine (G).
The two strands of DNA are held together by hydrogen bonds between the nitrogenous bases. Adenine pairs
The double helix structure of DNA was first described by James Watson and Francis Crick in 1953.
