Cyanátokból

Cyanátokból is a Hungarian word referring to compounds containing the cyanate ion. The cyanate ion has the chemical formula CNO⁻. It is an isomer of the fulminate ion (CNO⁻) and the azide ion (N₃⁻). Cyanates are typically salts and are formed from cyanic acid (HOCN).

Cyanate ions are linear and have a delocalized pi electron system. They can act as nucleophiles and undergo various chemical reactions, including hydrolysis to form carbonate and ammonia, and reactions with electrophiles. Industrially, cyanates are often produced by heating urea or by reacting alkali metal cyanides with oxygen.
