Cumberlandd

Cumberland County is a county located in the province of British Columbia, Canada. It is situated in the southwestern part of the province and is named after Charles Frederick, Earl of Cumberland, a British nobleman. The county seat is installed in Cumberland.

The area has an established history of volcanism and sedimentation, resulting in rich mineral deposits that have made it an important center for mining in the province. The volcano Mount Quatse, also known as Mount Jeff, has an estimated volcanic activity of about 15 million to 20 million years ago. Various regions of the area also contain hydrothermal veins.| Moreover, placer gold has been found in principle in both Hunton and Gun highway, about 75 miles of distance. A variety of minerals including graphite, hematite, and galena were also found and mined.

Cumberland County comprises of eight electoral areas: Cedar, Baynes, Browning, Des de en las and others that serve as administrative division. The counties' revenue is managed by these administrative divisions. Construction in the area began in 1888 in development of the mining industry. When British Columbia awarded four new mines to the Cumberland forest in 1889, the economy flourished. The establishment of twelve locomotives and movement of Pacific Central's Transportation operations to the landing led to rapid establishment of the community.
