Cowdray
Cowdray refers to a historic estate in West Sussex, England, centered on the village of Easebourne near Midhurst. The principal feature is the remains of Cowdray House, a Tudor mansion built in the 16th century for Anthony Browne, 1st Viscount Montagu, and later associated with the Montagu family. The house stood for centuries as a seat of Tudor nobility before a major fire in 1793 destroyed most of the building, leaving the surrounding walls and a dramatic ruin that is known today as the Cowdray Ruins.
