Cooktown

Cooktown is a town in Far North Queensland, Australia, located at the mouth of the Endeavour River. It holds historical significance as the site where Lieutenant James Cook and his crew of HMS Endeavour spent seven weeks repairing their ship in 1770 after running aground on the Great Barrier Reef. The town was established in 1873 as a port for the Palmer River goldfields.
