Cochleariskerne
Cochleariskerne refers to the cochlear nuclei, which are the primary auditory nuclei of the central nervous system. They are located in the brainstem, specifically in the medulla oblongata, at the pontomedullary junction. The cochlear nuclei receive auditory input directly from the spiral ganglion cells of the cochlea via the auditory nerve. This auditory nerve is composed of the axons of bipolar neurons whose cell bodies reside in the spiral ganglion within the modiolus of the cochlea.
There are two main cochlear nuclei: the ventral cochlear nucleus (VCN) and the dorsal cochlear nucleus (DCN).
