Chuniophoenix
Chuniophoenix is a genus of palms in the family Arecaceae. It is native to Madagascar. The genus currently contains two recognized species, Chuniophoenix robusta and Chuniophoenix seltzii. These palms are characterized by their clustering growth habit, slender stems, and pinnate leaves. The inflorescences are branched and borne below the crown of leaves. The fruit is a small, fleshy drupe. Chuniophoenix palms are often found in humid forest environments. They are not widely cultivated and are considered rare. Further research is ongoing to understand the ecological roles and conservation status of these species. The name Chuniophoenix honors the French botanist Henri Chunioux.
