Chromosomenherauslösung is a German term that translates to chromosome segregation or chromosome separation. It refers to the critical process during cell division, specifically mitosis and meiosis, where replicated chromosomes are accurately divided and distributed to daughter cells. This ensures that each new cell receives a complete and correct set of genetic material.

During mitosis, the cell replicates its chromosomes, resulting in sister chromatids joined at the centromere.
