Chikmagalur
Chikmagalur is a city and a municipality in the Chikmagalur district in the state of Karnataka, India. It is the administrative headquarters of the Chikmagalur district. The city is known for its coffee plantations and its scenic beauty. The name Chikmagalur is believed to have originated from the Kannada words, "chikka" meaning younger and "magalu" meaning daughter, hence "younger daughter's town". Legend has it that it was gifted as dowry to the younger daughter of the chief of Manjarabad.
The district is situated in the Western Ghats, a region renowned for its biodiversity and picturesque landscapes.
