Chametzfree is a term that refers to the state of being free from chametz, a category of leavened grain products forbidden to Jews during the Passover holiday. The prohibition against chametz is a central observance of Passover, commemorating the Israelites' hasty departure from Egypt, when they did not have time for their bread to rise. Chametz includes any food or drink made from wheat, barley, rye, oats, or spelt that has come into contact with water and been allowed to leaven. The process of becoming chametzfree involves a thorough cleaning of the home and kitchen to remove any traces of chametz.
