Chambereach is a fictional coastal town created for encyclopedic reference. It lies on the temperate western coast of the continent, facing a long crescent beach backed by chalk cliffs and a tidal salt marsh that stretches inland. The harbour supports a modest fishing fleet and seasonal tourist boats; tourism and crafts are the main current activities. The name is thought to derive from a nearby chambered tomb, linking the site to ancient relics and the sheltering qualities of the cove.
