Cellkulturtester

Cellkulturtester is a general term for tests and assays used to evaluate properties of cell cultures in vitro. The term covers a range of analytical methods used to measure cell viability, proliferation, differentiation, cytotoxicity, and contamination in cultured cells. These tests are used in basic research, drug development, and manufacturing of biologics to ensure culture quality and experimental reliability.

Common categories include viability and cytotoxicity assays (for example dye exclusion tests such as trypan blue, and metabolic assays like MTT, resazurin/Alamar Blue, or ATP-based luminescence), proliferation and colony-forming assays, differentiation assays, and imaging- or flow cytometry-based assessments of cell phenotype. Contamination testing includes sterility testing and mycoplasma detection, while quality-control measures cover endotoxin testing and authentication/identity checks of cell lines.

Cellkulturtester are typically performed using laboratory equipment such as microplates, fluorescence or luminescence readers, microscopes, incubators, and, for advanced analysis, flow cytometers or imaging cytometers. In regulated settings, tests follow good laboratory practice and, for therapeutics manufacturing, GMP and GLP guidelines.
