Capitolio
Capitolio refers to the Capitolio Nacional, the iconic legislative building in Havana, Cuba. It is a monumental structure inspired by the United States Capitol Building in Washington D.C., though it is slightly larger. Construction began in 1927 and was completed in 1929 under the direction of architect Eugenio Raynieri Piedra. At the time of its construction, it was one of the largest public buildings in Havana.
The Capitolio Nacional served as the seat of the Cuban Congress until 1959, following the Cuban Revolution.
