Capillærtrykk

Capillærtrykk refers to the pressure difference that arises across a curved interface between two immiscible fluids, such as water and air, due to the surface tension of the liquid. This phenomenon is particularly evident in narrow tubes or porous media, where the liquid is drawn upwards against gravity or retained within the pores.

The magnitude of capillærtrykk is determined by the surface tension of the liquid, the radius of the tube or pore, and the contact angle between the liquid and the solid surface. A smaller radius leads to a larger capillærtrykk, and a smaller contact angle (indicating better wetting of the surface by the liquid) also results in a greater upward force.
