Camarão

Camarão is the Portuguese word for shrimp or prawn. These decapod crustaceans are characterized by their elongated bodies, segmented exoskeletons, and ten legs. They are found in aquatic environments worldwide, inhabiting both freshwater and saltwater. Their diet varies depending on the species but often includes small organisms, algae, and detritus.

Commercially, camarão is a significant seafood commodity. It is harvested from wild populations and also extensively farmed in aquaculture operations, particularly in countries like Brazil, Ecuador, and Vietnam. The culinary applications of camarão are vast and diverse, featuring prominently in cuisines across the globe. The nutritional profile of camarão is notable for being a good source of lean protein, low in fat, and rich in minerals such as selenium, zinc, and iodine, as well as vitamins like B12.
