C:\Users\Benutzer is an example of a user profile directory on Microsoft Windows systems, using "Benutzer" (German for "user") as the account name. The Users folder (usually C:\Users) stores per-account data and settings created when a local or domain user first signs into a Windows machine. Each profile directory contains standard subfolders such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Music, and Videos, and a hidden AppData folder that holds application settings, caches, and temporary data separated into Local, LocalLow, and Roaming subfolders.

The profile path is referenced by environment variables like %USERPROFILE% and %HOMEPATH% and is used by the operating system and applications to resolve user-specific file locations. Windows also maintains Default and Public profiles for template and shared resources. Roaming profiles (in domain environments) allow certain profile components to follow a user between machines, while local profiles remain on a single device.

Permissions on a user profile restrict access to the owning account and administrators; improper changes can cause applications to fail or profiles to become inaccessible. Common maintenance tasks include backing up Documents and AppData, cleaning temporary files, and repairing corrupted profiles. The visible names of standard folders may be localized by the shell, but the underlying filesystem names and path semantics remain consistent.
