CREBn

CREBn, also known as C-reactive protein B, is a protein encoded by the CRPB gene. It belongs to the pentraxin family, a group of proteins characterized by their pentameric structure. While structurally similar to C-reactive protein (CRP), CREBn exhibits distinct functional properties and tissue distribution.

CREBn is primarily expressed in the liver and is synthesized and secreted into the bloodstream. Its exact physiological role is not fully understood, but research suggests it may be involved in the innate immune response. Like CRP, CREBn can bind to various microbial components and damaged cell products, potentially facilitating their clearance by the immune system.
