CPIbased is an adjective describing calculations, payments, or contracts that are adjusted according to movements in the Consumer Price Index (CPI). In a CPIbased arrangement, the amount due or the indexation of benefits is linked to a chosen CPI series and base year, so inflation affects the value over time. Common applications include wage indexation, pensions and other social benefits, rent and lease contracts, and inflation-linked financial instruments such as inflation-indexed bonds.
