CHAF1B

CHAF1B, also known as Chromatin Assembly Factor 1 Subunit B, is a protein encoded by the CHAF1B gene. This gene is located on human chromosome 10. CHAF1B is a component of Chromatin Assembly Factor 1 (CAF-1), a heterotrimeric protein complex that plays a crucial role in the de novo assembly of nucleosomes during DNA replication and repair.

The CAF-1 complex, composed of CHAF1A, CHAF1B, and CHAF1C subunits, specifically binds to newly synthesized histone H3-H4 tetramers and delivers them to the replication fork. This ensures that histones are deposited onto newly replicated DNA, reassembling chromatin structure.
