Burza

Burza is a term in several Slavic languages with distinct meanings depending on the language and context. In Polish, burza denotes a storm or tempest; it is part of everyday weather vocabulary and is used in forecasts, headlines, and idiomatic expressions such as burza mózgów (brainstorming).

Elsewhere in the region, the meaning shifts. In Croatian and Bosnian, burza commonly refers to a stock exchange or financial market, with well-known uses in the names of exchanges like Zagrebačka burza. In those contexts it may be used in compound or sentence constructions to refer to market activity or trading sessions.

Burza can also appear in meteorological phrases: burza pyłowa (dust storm) or burza z piorunami (thunderstorm).
