Brummer
Brummer refers to a type of armored fighting vehicle. The most well-known example is the South African Ratel, which is also referred to as the "Brummer" by some. The Ratel is an infantry fighting vehicle designed in the 1970s and entering service in the 1980s. It is characterized by its wheeled design, typically with 6x6 or 8x8 wheel configurations, offering good mobility over varied terrain. Armament usually includes a 20mm or 90mm main gun and machine guns. The vehicle is capable of transporting a squad of infantry. Its development was driven by the need for a mobile and protected platform for the South African Defence Force. The Brummer name might also be used informally or in specific contexts to refer to other similar wheeled armored vehicles.
