Boraksina

Boraksina is a mineral species belonging to the borate group. It is a hydrated sodium borate with the chemical formula Na2B4O7·5H2O. Boraksina was first discovered in 1966 in the Boraks deposit in the Kola Peninsula, Russia. It is typically found in association with other borate minerals such as borax and ulexite.

Boraksina crystallizes in the monoclinic system and forms colorless to white, prismatic crystals. It has a Mohs hardness of 2.5 and a specific gravity of approximately 1.65. The mineral is soluble in water and has a sweet taste, similar to borax. It is often used in the production of borax and other borate compounds.

Boraksina is not considered to be a significant ore of boron, but it is of interest to mineralogists and collectors due to its rarity and unique crystal structure. It is typically found in small, well-formed crystals and is often associated with other borate minerals in evaporite deposits.
