Biometánként

Biometánként is the Hungarian term for biomethane. Biomethane is a renewable natural gas that is produced from the anaerobic digestion of organic matter, such as agricultural waste, food waste, and sewage sludge. The process of anaerobic digestion breaks down organic materials in the absence of oxygen, producing biogas, which is primarily composed of methane and carbon dioxide. Biomethane is then purified from biogas by removing carbon dioxide and other impurities, resulting in a gas that is nearly identical in composition to fossil natural gas.

This purified biomethane can be injected directly into the existing natural gas grid, used as a vehicle fuel (bio-CNG or bio-LNG), or utilized in power generation. Its production offers a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels, contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and promoting a circular economy by valorizing waste streams. Biomethane is a key component in many countries' strategies to decarbonize their energy sectors and achieve climate goals. The energy content and combustion properties of biomethane are comparable to those of conventional natural gas, making it a "drop-in" fuel that requires no significant modifications to existing infrastructure.
