Biletsyrer

Biletsyrer is a small Danish settlement situated in the southeastern part of the island of Zealand, within the administrative boundaries of the Vordingborg Municipality. The locality lies roughly 12 kilometres north of the town of Vordingborg and is accessible via a minor roadway that connects it to the larger regional road network. Historically, Biletsyrer has been a rural community with a strong agricultural tradition, primarily focusing on arable farming and dairy production.

The name Biletsyrer is believed to derive from old Danish words associated with the local geography, possibly referencing the combination of limestone outcrops and shallow wetlands that characterize the surrounding landscape. Archaeological evidence suggests human activity in the area dating back to the Viking Age, and a number of palaeobotanical findings indicate early agricultural practices.

In contemporary times, the population of Biletsyrer remains modest, with estimates around 120 residents. The village is characterized by a handful of residential dwellings, a small community centre that doubles as a local meeting place, and a traditional farm complex that has been operated by the same family for several generations.
