Bifreið

Bifreið is the Icelandic term for a vehicle, typically a motorized road vehicle designed to transport people or goods. It is used in everyday language and in legal contexts to refer to cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles and similar conveyances. Non-motorized transport such as bicycles or horse-drawn carts is not usually described as bifreið.

Bifreiðs are classified by function and size. Typical subcategories include passenger vehicles (cars and light trucks), commercial vehicles, heavy trucks, motorcycles and mopeds, and trailers towed by a vehicle.
