Belinsky

Vissarion Belinsky was a prominent Russian literary critic and philosopher. Born in 1811, he is considered one of the founders of the Russian realist movement in literature. Belinsky's critical essays, published in influential journals of his time, focused on the social and political issues of Russia. He championed the works of writers like Nikolai Gogol, Ivan Turgenev, and Fyodor Dostoevsky, interpreting their literary creations through a lens of social commentary and progressive thought.

Belinsky was a staunch advocate for the emancipation of serfs and a critic of autocracy. His ideas, though often controversial and leading to censorship, significantly shaped Russian intellectual discourse during the 19th century.
