Batterising

Batterising is a chemical and physical interaction between a zinc-carbon battery and a steel or iron object, typically a screw or nail. When a battery comes into contact with a conductive metal, it can cause a noticeable reaction, often accompanied by a loud click, audible hiss, or visible spark.

The process of batterising occurs when the corrosion on the anode (negative terminal) of the battery reacts with the presence of a ferrous metal (e.g., screws, nails, or other objects made from steel or iron).
