Bassetts is a brand of confectionery, primarily known for its jelly babies. The company was founded in Sheffield, England, in 1842 by George Bassett. Initially, the business was a small sweet shop that grew to become a significant manufacturer. The jelly baby, the company's most iconic product, was first created in 1918 by Bassett's grandson, Harry Jasper Bassett, though it was originally named "Peace Babies" to commemorate the end of World War I. Later, they were rebranded as "Bassetts Jelly Babies" and have remained popular ever since.
