Bashkirian

Bashkirian is an English adjective and demonym related to Bashkir or Bashkortostan. It may refer to people, language, culture, or to a geological time unit used in some stratigraphic schemes. In general usage, Bashkirian describes things connected with Bashkiria or Bashkirs.

Bashkir people are a Turkic-speaking ethnic group indigenous to the Ural region of Russia, primarily Bashkortostan. In geology, Bashkirian is a stage of the Pennsylvanian (late Carboniferous) named after Bashkiria where rocks of this age were first studied. It occurred roughly 323 to 315 million years ago, and is followed by the Moscovian stage. The name reflects the region’s importance in Early Pennsylvanian stratigraphy.
