Basekatalytoituja, meaning base-catalyzed reactions, refers to chemical reactions that are accelerated by the presence of a base. In these reactions, the base acts as a catalyst, participating in the reaction mechanism but being regenerated at the end, thus not being consumed. Bases commonly used as catalysts include hydroxides, alkoxides, amines, and carbonates.

The mechanism of base catalysis typically involves the base abstracting a proton from a substrate, forming a carbanion or other nucleophilic intermediate.
