Bartella

Bartella is a town in Nineveh Governorate, Iraq. It lies to the east of Mosul and is part of the Al-Hamdaniya District. The town is located in the Nineveh Plain, a region known for its Assyrian Christian communities.

Historically inhabited by Assyrian Christians, the town's population comprises members of the Chaldean Catholic Church, the Syriac Orthodox Church, the Assyrian Church of the East, and other Assyrian denominations.

During the 2010s, Bartella was affected by the ISIS conflict when the area came under Islamic State control for several years. After military operations to liberate the Nineveh Plain, residents began returning to Bartella and reconstruction efforts started.

Economically, the town relies on agriculture, local commerce, and services tied to nearby Mosul and other towns in the Nineveh Plain.
