BaCl2aq
BaCl2aq refers to an aqueous solution of barium chloride. Barium chloride (BaCl2) is an ionic compound that readily dissolves in water. When dissolved, it dissociates into barium ions (Ba2+) and chloride ions (Cl-) dispersed throughout the water molecules. This solution is a common reagent in chemical laboratories, often used for qualitative analysis and in various synthesis reactions. A characteristic reaction of barium chloride solutions is with sulfate ions (SO42-), which results in the precipitation of insoluble barium sulfate (BaSO4). This reaction is frequently employed to test for the presence of sulfates. Barium chloride solutions are colorless and can be prepared by dissolving solid barium chloride in distilled water. Due to the toxicity of barium compounds, solutions of barium chloride should be handled with care.
