Avairin

Avairin is a fictional port city located in the western part of the country of Veridia. Situated at the estuary of the Avair River on the Galene Sea, it has long served as a commercial and cultural crossroads for inland regions and coastal trade routes.

Founded in the early medieval period by merchants seeking a protected harbor, Avairin grew as a trading stop along river routes converging at the sea. It received municipal charters in the late Middle Ages and became the administrative center of Veridian Province, attracting craftsmen, sailors, and scholars.

The city sits on a natural harbor with stone quays and a ring of hills to the east. Its economy centers on maritime trade, fishing, ship repair, and logistics, with services such as finance and tourism expanding in recent decades.

Avairin is governed by a municipal council led by a mayor. The city preserves a historic market square, the 18th-century Avairin Lighthouse, and a ceremonial City Hall. It hosts the annual Festival of Lights and maintains a weekly harbor market that reflects its long trading heritage.
