Autoritários

Autoritários is a term used to describe individuals or regimes that exhibit authoritarian characteristics. These characteristics typically include a strong central power, limited political freedoms, and a suppression of opposition. Authoritarian systems often prioritize order and stability over individual liberties, and decision-making is concentrated in the hands of a few, often unelected, individuals.

In a political context, authoritarianism stands in contrast to democratic systems, where power is distributed among the populace and fundamental rights are protected. Authoritarian governments may maintain a facade of legitimacy through elections or other institutions, but these are often manipulated to ensure the ruling power remains in control. Freedom of speech, assembly, and the press are frequently curtailed to prevent dissent and maintain a cohesive narrative.

The term "autoritários" can also be applied to individuals who display a dominant and controlling personality, often seeking to impose their will on others without much regard for their opinions or feelings. This can manifest in personal relationships, workplaces, or other social interactions. Such individuals may exhibit a rigid adherence to rules, a low tolerance for perceived challenges to their authority, and a tendency to be dismissive of differing viewpoints. The underlying principle remains a concentration of power and a reluctance to share control or engage in collaborative decision-making.
