Atollics

Atollic was a software company founded in 2005, specializing in tools for embedded systems development. Its primary offering was the Atollic TrueSTUDIO, an integrated development environment (IDE) designed for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers. TrueSTUDIO provided a comprehensive suite of tools, including a compiler, debugger, and code editor, aimed at simplifying the development workflow for embedded engineers. The company focused on delivering a cost-effective and powerful solution for a wide range of applications.

In 2016, Atollic was acquired by STMicroelectronics, a major semiconductor manufacturer. Following the acquisition, the Atollic TrueSTUDIO IDE was rebranded and integrated into STMicroelectronics' STM32CubeIDE. This integration aimed to provide a unified and streamlined development experience for users of STMicroelectronics' STM32 microcontrollers. The acquisition allowed STMicroelectronics to enhance its software offerings and further support its extensive microcontroller ecosystem. While the Atollic brand is no longer actively promoted, its legacy continues through the integrated tools now available under the STM32CubeIDE.
